Vietnam continuing to review casino and betting legislation
Authorities in Vietnam are reportedly still reviewing their legislation in regards to casinos and betting, with a ministry official noting that further regulations could be put in place in order to stay up with the times.
According to local news outlets, there has been positive feedback regarding the pilot scheme for locals gambling, especially amongst the backdrop of strong economic and tourism drops due to the pandemic.
The Deputy Director of the Department of Financial Institutions says authorities are reviewing the casino legislation, indicating that tourism and infrastructure development, alongside job creation, had benefited from the locals’ pilot scheme.
This comes after a new decree noting that a minimum of $2 billion is required to achieve new casino licenses, passed recently.
But the review goes beyond just casinos, with horse racing, dog racing and football betting also set to come under inspection and face possible regulatory changes.
